SWIM LESSON POLICIES
Streamlined Learning
Y Swim Lessons continue to evolve to better meet the needs of the people they serve.
-
The latest evolution of Y Swim Lessons accommodates students of varying abilities to help foster a sense of achievement as swimmers’ progress between levels.
-
Through this approach, advanced swimmers flow more easily to higher levels while swimmers who need more instruction can learn at their own pace.
-
This results in more confident swimmers who stick with lessons and develop a love for swimming that can last a lifetime.
Swimming Lesson Policies
Passing Classes: It is not uncommon for a child to stay in a particular level several times before successful completion. It is natural for participants to develop motor skills and become comfortable with water at a different pace. Practicing skills during open and family swim is strongly recommended to improve swim skills.
Missed Classes/Holidays: Sorry, missed group classes cannot be made up; nor are they refundable. Class that are on a holiday in which the Y is closed or closes early will also not be rescheduled. Private swim lessons must be redeemed within 30 days of purchase.
Parent Observation: Unless involved in the Parent/Child class or All Kids Swim, parents are only allowed on the pool deck while dropping off/picking up their child. This is to provide your child with the best possible learning experience. It is our ambition to help your child grow in their confidence and to progress with their skill level. We request that parents sit in the observation area outside the pool area on the south side of the building; right off the service desk.

Registration: Stop by the Y's front desk (Member Services) to register or online. Payment must be received at time of registration. No refunds will be given once a session begins.
Inclement Weather or Unexpected Closure: In the event that the pool is unexpectedly closed, and lessons cannot continue, we will contact all participants with the information provided at registration. We will also add Y-Bucks onto your Y account to be used for a future registration in-house. Credits will NOT be given if the pool must close after first 10 minutes of class.
What to Bring: Participants should have appropriate swim attire and a towel. Goggles are optional but recommended for progressive levels. All other necessary equipment will be provided.
